Non-human Primates (NHP), particularly Cynomolgus monkeys, are crucial in biomedical research due to their close phylogenetic relation to humans. Originating from Southeast Asia, they are extensively used in various research fields including toxicology, pharmacology, metabolism, physiology, and psychology. These monkeys are bred in specialized centers, with a typical lifespan of 25-30 years. Juveniles are aged 19-31 months and adolescents 32-44 months, reaching sexual maturity at four years for females and six years for males. They exhibit age-related conditions akin to humans, making them valuable models for diseases like cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, osteoarthritis, obesity, diabetes, and transplantation studies.

Cynomolgus monkeys typically have 8-28% of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) composed of CD8 T cells. These cells express the CD8 protein marker and T cell receptor (TCR), enabling recognition of foreign antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells, triggering their activation. Mature CD8 T cells develop in the thymus and migrate to lymphoid tissues where they encounter and respond to foreign pathogens. Upon activation, CD8 T cells transform into cytotoxic cells capable of destroying infected or aberrant cells through lysis.

Our Non Human Primate CD8+ Cytotoxic T Cells are isolated from Non Human Primate mononuclear cells by negative selection. All Non-Human Primate whole blood is collected by venipuncture from animals housed within the United States.
