Graves Thyroid Disease Plasma And Whole Blood

Graves disease, an autoimmune thyroid disorder, is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism or the increased production of thyroid hormones. Approximately 3% of women and 0.5% of men will develop Graves disease during their lifetime. Graves disease is caused by the autoantibodies that recognize and activate the thyrotropin receptor (TRAb), thereby stimulating thyroid hormone synthesis and secretion as well as thyroid growth. Besides hyperthyroidism, symptoms of Graves disease could also include goiter, eye disease (orbitopathy), and occasionally a dermopathy referred to as pretibial or localized myxedema.

We can obtain whole blood and plasma samples from these patients when they become available to our network of clinicians. Some disease types may have a long backorder depending on the frequency of the disease occurrence in the general population. All samples come from fully consented IRB approved collections.
